How to make Chicken Parm Casserole

This is the easiest version of chicken parm you'll ever make. If you can add ingredients to a dish and turn on the oven, you can make this casserole!

1: Mix the dry pasta, seasonings, water, and pasta sauce in a large bowl.

    Hint

Remember, all pasta brands absorb liquid differently. If your pasta mixture is too dry in the end for your liking, add a bit more pasta sauce.

Storage for this one pan pasta dish

Refrigerate your chicken parm casserole as soon as it's cool enough to maximize its shelf life and flavor.

To reheat the casserole, bake it at 350 until heated through.

Refrigerator: Store for up to 3 days in an air-tight container.

Freezer: Store for up to 3 months in an air-tight, freezer-safe container. Defrost the casserole overnight in the refrigerator before reheating it.

What to Serve with Chicken Parm Casserole

This delicious casserole is loaded with lean protein and pasta, so I recommend pairing it with a vegetable and some bread for a classic Italian dinner. And don't forget dessert!

    Tips

    • Cooking times vary from pasta to pasta. If your pasta isn't tender after 30 minutes, cook it for 5 more minutes and check again, repeating until it reaches your desired tenderness.
    • If your grocery store doesn't carry gluten-free pasta and breadcrumbs, you can easily find them on Amazon.
    • Although initially watery, your pasta mixture will become thick as it cooks. To avoid sticking, spray your baking dish with cooking spray.

    FAQ

    What is gluten-free pasta?

Gluten-free pasta is made without traditional wheat, which contains gluten. Instead, the pasta is made with corn, rice, or even potato flour.

How do you know when pasta is done?

Perfectly cooked pasta will be al dente. Al dente pasta should be tender but still firm.

What are gluten-free breadcrumbs made of?

Like gluten-free bread, gluten-free breadcrumbs are made with gluten-free flour mixtures.

Can I use regular pasta and breadcrumbs in this recipe?

Absolutely! Feel free to use traditional pasta and breadcrumbs if you don't have gluten sensitivity.

    • Measuring spoons
    • Mixing Bowl
    • 9x13 baking dish
    • Foil
    • Mixing spoon

    Ingredients

    • 1 box gluten-free pasta
    • 2 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
    • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
    • 1 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
    • 28 ounce pasta sauce
    • 3 ½ cups water
    • ½ tablespoon Italian seasoning
    • ¾ teaspoon salt
    • 10 oz Springer Mountain Farms grilled chicken strips
    • 1 tsp basil

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and lightly grase a 9x13 baking dish. Mix the Italian seasoning, basil, and salt in a small bowl.
    • In a large bowl or the casserole dish, mix the dry pasta, water, and seasonings until well combined.
    • Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
    • Remove the dish form the oven and stir the pasta mixture, adding more sauce if it's too dry.
    • Top the pasta mixture with chicken strips, mozzarella cheese, breadcrumbs, and parmesan cheese, in that order.
    • Bake uncovered for 12 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melty and the breadcrumbs are golden.

    Notes

    Storage
    • Refrigerate for up to 3 days in an airtight container or covered in the original dish.
    • Freeze for up to 3 months in an airtight, freezer-safe container. Defrost before reheating.
    • Bake covered at 350 until heated through, or microwave individual portions at 1-minute intervals.
    Tips
    • Don't worry that your pasta mixture is watery. It's supposed to be. All that liquid cooks the pasta as the casserole bakes.
    • Check your pasta for doneness after about 30 minutes. If the pasta isn't done, continue to bake, checking every five minutes until the pasta is tender.
    • Your pasta is finished cooking when it has a firm but tender texture.
