These apple pie donuts are the perfect fall dessert and only take 5 minutes to prepare. They taste just like apple pie but without all of the extra work of making an apple pie.
In a food processor, place apples and water. Pulse until an applesauce-like texture has formed. (You may need to scrape down the sides once or twice). This should make one cup. If you don’t have 1 cup use another apple.
Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a donut pan with coconut oil and a pastry brush.
In a large bowl, combine the eggs, fresh applesauce, sugar, vanilla extract, and coconut oil. Using a whisk, mix until fully combined.
Next, add the cinnamon, apple pie spice, baking powder, salt, and gluten-free flour to the wet mixture. Using a rubber spatula, mix this until fully combined.
Then, add the batter to a piping bag. Once you have cut the tip off of the bag, use the bag to add the donut mixture to each doughnut well.
Place the donuts in the oven and bake for 13 to 16 minutes. A toothpick will come out clean once they are done. Allow donuts to cool for 10 minutes then place on a wire rack.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine all of the glaze ingredients, beginning with the powdered sugar. Start with 1 tablespoon of almond milk and add more if the glaze is too thick.
Mix until all clumps are gone.
Dip the top half of each doughnut into the glaze and place back on the wire rack. Make sure to put parchment paper under the wire rack for easy clean up.

Top Tips:
Always measure your gluten-free flour. For Bob's Red Mill 1 cup of flour is 150 grams. For this recipe, I use 225 grams of Bob's Red Mill 1:1 baking flour.
