This Nutella buttercream frosting makes the perfect pair with chocolate cake. It’s perfectly nutty and not too sweet with the most amazing creamy texture.
Using an electric mixer or a hand mixer with the paddle attachment, cream the butter on medium high for about two minutes.
If using full dairy butter, you can cream this longer about four minutes.
Add in the powdered sugar one cup at a time. Be sure to mix very slow at first, then go to a medium speed until incorporated.
Once incorporated continue adding the additional cups one at a time. Make sure to scrape down the sides and bottom of the mixer as needed.
Next, add the Nutella and mix on medium high for one minute. After this is incorporated, turned the mixer off.
Add in the vanilla extract, salt and the milk.
Mix this on medium high for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and creamy.
Notes
This buttercream frosting makes enough to frost a three-layer, 6-inch cake or a two-layer 8-inch cake. You can also frost about 20 cupcakes if using a piping bag and tip.Nutrition: Nutrition information is automatically calculated and should only be used as an approximation.
