Ingredients for Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta labeled on a counter.
    • New York Strip Steak: New York strip steak has the perfect amount of marbling to create tender, juicy steak strips without being overly fatty in this creamy garlic pasta with steak.
    • Penne Pasta: I love penne for this steak pasta recipe because of the way it holds the sauce. I used DeLallo Gluten Free Penne Pasta. It is made in Italy with a brown rice base and  cooked up perfectly for this recipe.
    • Seasonings: Smoked paprika, oregano, garlic powder, and thyme add plenty of flavor to the creamy garlic sauce pasta.
    • Olive Oil:  I prefer Costabile Olive Oil for its quality and purity. Use Code: 15GoldenGK for 15% off.

    Flavor Variations

    • Steak: I used New York strip for this pasta. You can substitute in a rib eye or cut of filet if you prefer. Just remember the cooking times will very depending on your meat.
    • Other Protein: I love steak and pasta but if you want to mix things up you can use the same sauce with chicken, pork, or even ground turkey.
    • Dairy-Free: Use plant-based heavy cream and cheese to make this recipe dairy allergy friendly!
    • Pasta: Any short, textured pasta will work for this creamy steak pasta recipe.
    • Spicy: Try adding a little red pepper for a spicy kick.

How to Make Creamy Garlic Steak Pasta

Two raw steaks seasoned and sitting on a cutting board.

Step 1.  Cook the pasta in a  large pot with boiling water according to the package directions for al dente. Once the pasta is done cooking, drain the water and set the pasta aside. In a small bowl mix paprika, salt, oregano, garlic powder, thyme, and black pepper. Then, generously season both sides of the steak with the dry seasoning mix.

Step 2. Preheat your Circulon 12 quart pan to medium with two tablespoons of oil. Sear the steak for 4 minutes on both sides until the steak reaches 135 to 165 degrees internal depending on how you want your steak cooked. Once the steaks are done, set them aside to rest on a cutting board.

Step 3.  Reduce your heat to medium low and melt your butter into the same pan. Now add in Italian seasoning, salt, garlic powder, onion paste and minced garlic. Let that cook for about 1 minute.

Step 5. Once the sauce begins to thicken, add the parmesan cheese and stir until it is completely melted. Let that cook for 1 to 3 minutes or until you have reached your desired consistency before adding your noodles back in.

Step 6. Finally, gently stir to coat the pasta evenly. Slice your steak and add it into the pasta before stirring well. Add a fresh garnish and enjoy!

    Expert Tips

    • Adjust the Thickness: If your sauce is too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time until it reaches your desired consistancy. If your steak with pasta is too thin, add a bit more heavy cream.
    • Cooking Your Pasta: Cook your pasta a couple of minutes less than what's called for on the box. It will continue to cook to al dente perfection when you mix it into the sauce.
    • Cooking Your Steak: Medium heat is the sweet spot for perfectly seared steak that has a nice crust on the outside and a tender, juicy center. Don't forget to let the steak rest once it comes out the pan to help lock in the juices.
    • Use a Meat Thermometer: This is the most fail proof way to make sure your steak comes out to your desired cook!

    Creamy Garlic Steak Pasta FAQs

Do I need butter for Creamy Garlic Steak Pasta?

Your steak should take about 4 minutes total with about two minutes on each side. This creates that perfect sear and medium rare finish. Internal temp should be between 135 to 165 degrees. If you want it more well done, let it cook for an extra 30 seconds to 1 minute on each side.

Do I need butter for Creamy Garlic Steak Pasta?

Yes. Butter helps create that creamy garlic sauce for the pasta. A little butter for the steak will also help create a beautiful steakhouse sear we all know and love.

What is a good side dish for my creamy garlic steak pasta recipes?

Steak and pasta dishes can be very filling so think about pairing it with something lighter. I love to make my Arugula Salad with Pistachios to help with the balance. A cooked vegetable is always a great option as well. The more color in your foods, the better!

Can I make this steak & pasta with traditional noodles?

YES! Everything at Golden Grace Kitchen is designed to be gluten-free. You can use regular pasta with gluten as long as you do not have a gluten allergy!
