These gluten-free Snickers donuts are absolutely divine! If you love donuts and Snickers candy this recipe will satisfy your craving for both. Additionally, these donuts are baked and are a healthier alternative to fried donuts because they are not cooked in oil.

Generally, you won't find a moist and delicious gluten-free donut in a traditional donut shop. However, there's no need to worry. By making this eggless donut recipe, you can certainly bring the donut shop to your very own kitchen.

    Ingredients

Gluten, egg, and dairy free Snickers donuts

    Donuts:

    • gluten free 1:1 flour: Always use a quality 1:1 gluten-free flour such as Bobs Red Mill 1:1.
    • cocoa powder: Cocoa powder can be a great addition to donut recipes, as it adds a rich chocolate flavor and a dark color to the batter.
    • light brown sugar: Light brown adds a rich, caramel-like flavor
    • salt: The salt gives this little spicy kick you need in the recipe.
    • baking soda and baking powder: Baking soda and baking powder are leavening agents commonly used in donut recipes to help the dough rise and become light and fluffy.
    • avocado oil: Avocado oil can be used in donut recipes as a substitute for vegetable oil, canola oil, or other neutral-flavored oils.
    • flax eggs: Flax eggs can be used as an egg substitute in donut recipes for those who are vegan or have an egg allergy.
    • almond milk: Almond milk acts as a binding agent and adds a level of richness that can't be done with water alone.
    • white vinegar
    • vanilla extract: Always use a quality vanilla-making frosting. My favorite is Singing Dog Vanilla.
    • coconut oil spray

    Glaze:

    • caramel sugar: This caramel-flavored sugar makes a rich delicious glaze
    • cornstarch: Cornstarch can be used in a glaze as a thickener to help the glaze adhere better to the donuts and to give it a smoother texture.
    • powdered sugar: Powdered sugar is a common ingredient in glaze recipes and is used to add sweetness and thickness to the glaze.

    Optional:

    • Snickers candy bar

See the recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

    • First, preheat oven to 350°F.
    • Next, lightly coat the donut pan with the oil of your choice, or nonstick cooking spray. Then, set aside.
    • Then, combine flax meal and water and allow to sit for 5-8 minutes while thickening to make flax eggs.
    • Meanwhile, combine vinegar and room-temperature almond milk.
    • Afterward, in a large bowl, whisk together cocoa, flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugars, and salt.
    • Next, add flax eggs into your dry mixture along with half of the almond milk mixture. Then, begin to mix with a rubber spatula, next add the remaining almond milk, avocado oil, and vanilla extract then stir until well combined.
    • Lastly, place the mixture into a piping bag and fill the donut pan ⅔ of the way. Afterward, bake for 13-15 minutes until they spring back when touched. Finally, allow the donuts to cool for 15 minutes before carefully removing them to a wire rack.

    Make the glaze:

    • First, combine dry glaze ingredients in a blender until powder forms.
    • Next, combine powdered caramel sugar mixture about 1 ½ tablespoons dairy-free milk. Then, mix until desired consistency is met. Lastly, use a spoon to pour the glaze onto the donuts. Finally, add crushed Snickers pieces if desired.

    Equipment

A silicone donut pan is recommended for this recipe.

Also, you can use a doughnut machine. To use a doughnut machine, you will typically need to prepare your doughnut batter or dough and then fill the molds with the mixture. The machine will then heat the batter, cook it, and rotate the molds to ensure even cooking on both sides. Once the doughnuts are done, you can remove them from the molds and decorate them with your desired toppings such as glaze, sprinkles, or powdered sugar.

    Storage

Store gluten-free donuts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For best results, freeze donuts in an airtight container for up to 1 month.

    FAQ

    Can doughnuts be frozen?

Yes, doughnuts can be frozen. Freezing doughnuts is a great way to extend their shelf life and enjoy them later.

Can I reheat donuts in air fryer?

Yes, you can reheat donuts in an air fryer. Here's how:

    1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F.
    2. Place the donuts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between each donut.
    3. Heat the donuts in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes, or until they are warm and slightly crispy on the outside.
    4. If the donuts were glazed or frosted, you can add the glaze or frosting after they are heated up.

    Top Tips

    • To easily crush the Snickers candy bar, simply freeze the candy bar for 1-2 hours then place it into a plastic storage bag and smash it with a rolling pin.
    • Serve immediately: Donuts are best enjoyed fresh, so be sure to serve them as soon as possible after they are made for the best taste and texture.
