Air frying is one of my favorite ways to make delicious gluten-free side dishes, especially when they're easy and simple vegan recipes. Vegetables are always so delicious when they're made in the air fryer because they cook quickly, giving them the perfect texture and enhancing their flavor.

I'm also a big fan of making easy gluten-free appetizers in the air fryer, as well. And again, when they're vegetables, they come out so perfectly! It's a great little trick for making better-for-you snacks that no one ever complains about.

These air fryer snow peas have become a new favorite of mine because they can serve as either an appetizer or a side dish, they're incredibly easy to make, and everyone in my family loves their flavor. They're the trifecta of veggie dishes!

I love making these air fried snow peas for dinner, an afternoon snack, or parties because their firm but tender texture and simple seasonings pair so well with literally anything.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Limited Ingredients: You'll only need seven simple ingredients you can find in any grocery store to make this recipe.
    • Easy: Just toss the snow peas in the oil and seasonings and air fry them. It couldn't be easier!
    • Perfect Texture: Air frying the peas gives them the perfect texture. They're soft but not squishy.
    • Delicious Flavor: Soy sauce and garlic powder combine with the bright, slightly sweet flavor of the peas to create an amazing flavor profile.
    • Versatile: These peas make a great side dish with a bold main dish or side like these hot honey chicken sandwiches, a snack, or an appetizer.

    Variations

    • Olive Oil: You can use any oil with a high smoke point.
    • Spicy: Add red pepper flakes or a pinch of cayenne for a spicy kick.
    • Seasonings: Try adding onion powder for more aromatic flavor.
    • Soy Sauce: Coconut aminos work well in place of soy sauce, if you prefer. You could also use teriyaki sauce for a different flavor profile.
    • Snow Peas: Snap peas are a great replacement for snow peas. Air fryer snap peas offer a similar flavor and more robust teture.
    • Use Them in Recipes: Try adding these peas to recipes like this teriyaki shrimp stir fry.

How to Make Air Fryer Snow Peas

Seasoned raw snow peas in a glass bowl.

Step 1: Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and gently mix them or toss them until the peas are evenly coated.

Air fryer basket with cooked snow peas.

Step 2: Place the peas in the air fryer basket and cook at 400F until tender, shking the basket halfway through cooking. Then, garnish with sesame seeds and enjoy!

    Expert Tips

    • Always preheat your air fryer for even cooking and accurate cooking times. It only takes 5 minutes!
    • Either toss your peas to coat them or use a gentle folding motion to mix them with the seasonings and oil. You don't want to break them.
    • Give your peas a good shake and a little toss halfway through cooking them to ensure even cooking.
    • Because the peas are coated in oil, there's no need to brush your basket with oil.
