Why You'll Love These Baked Apple Cinnamon Oats
- Limited Ingredients: You'll see this perk on many of my recipes. What can I say? I like to keep things simple, and this recipe only uses a few simple ingredients.
- Healthy and Delicious: These baked oats are sweetened naturally with maple syrup and a ton of apple cinnamon flavor. They're also full of complex carbs and a little protein, too.
- Easy: This recipe only takes a little mixing in one bowl and easy baking. There's nothing to it!
Ingredients
See the recipe card at the end of the post for a full list of ingredients and their exact quantities.
- Old-Fashioned Gluten-Free Oats: Old fashioned oats give this baked oatmeal a chewy, firm texture perfect for cutting into squares.
- Diced Apples: Apples give the oatmeal extra texture and tons of apple flavor.
- Cinnamon: You can't have apple cinnamon anything without cinnamon!
- Vanilla: I prefer Singing Dog Vanilla for its deep, rich flavor and quality.
- Maple Syrup: Maple syrup sweetens the oatmeal without refined sugar.
Flavor Variations
- Sweetener: Honey, agave, or monk fruit would also work for this recipe. If you aren't concerned with keeping things super healthy, you can also use brown sugar.
- Apples: Try Granny Smith apples for a tarter apple cinnamon flavor. For a sweeter flavor, try Honey Crisp, Braeburn, or Cortland apples.
- Add Nuts: Chopped pecans, walnuts, or almonds are a great addition for more flavor and texture.

How to Make Baked Apple Cinnamon Oats

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper. Then, lightly beat the egg in a small bowl. After that, combine the eggs, oats, and all remaining ingredients except the apples in a large bowl. Mix them well with a rubber spatula and then add the diced apples and mix again. The mixture will be slightly wet.

Step 2. Pour the oat mixture into the prepared pan and decorate with finely sliced apples. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the mixture is no longer wet. Cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy!
Expert Tips
- Make your parchment paper long enough to leave overhang so you can easily remove the baked oats when they're done.
- It's important to mix everything with a spatula to achieve the best texture.
- Always mix the apples in last. This ensures that all the other ingredients can properly mix without adhering to the apple chunks.
- Your oat mixture will look wet before baking. That's good! If it doesn't look wet, it's too dry.
- Let your baked oats cool for a few minutes so they can fully set. This allows them to hold their shape when sliced.
What to Serve with Baked Apple Cinnamon Oats
Pair a slice of this baked oatmeal with a slice of this breakfast casserole for a super hearty and healthy breakFEAST.
You can also pair these oats with my berry breakfast smoothie for even more sweetness, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and protein.
To reheat, place an oatmeal square on a microwaveable plate and cook at 30-second intervals until heated through.

Baked Apple Cinnamon Oats FAQ's
Baked oats are a breakfast recipe made by mixing rolled oats with a liquid like milk or water, a sweetener of some kind, eggs to set them, and any additional desired ingredients. Usually, people add classic oat pairings like berries, fruits, and nuts.
The mixture for baked oatmeal will look moderately wet before baking. If your oats look mostly dry before baking, you'll end up with dry baked oatmeal.
Baked oatmeal is as healthy or unhealthy as the recipe used. Baked oatmeal recipes that use fruits and natural sweeteners are healthier than recipes using refined sugars and lots of sweet ingredients like chocolate chips and sweetened, dried fruits.
Line your pan with parchment paper, leaving a healthy overhang on both sides. When the oatmeal is done, use the overhanging parchment paper as handles and lift the oatmeal right out of the pan!

Baked Apple Cinnamon Oats
Video
Ingredients
- 2 cups gluten free oats
- 1 ½ cups almond milk room temperature
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon Singing Dog Vanilla
- 1 ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup diced apples plus extra for the top
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 °F and line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper.
- Lightly beat the egg in a small bowl.
- Combine the eggs, oats, and all remaining ingredients except the apples in a large bowl, mixing well with a rubber spatula. Add the diced apples and mix again. The mixture will be slightly wet.
- Pour the oat mixture into the prepared pan and decorate with finely sliced apples. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the mixture is no longer wet.
- Cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
- Refrigerate for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
- Freeze slices wrapped in plastic wrap for up to 2 months in an airtight, freezer-safe container.
- Defrost before reheating. Then, microwave individual portions at 1-minute intervals until warm.
- Your oat mixture will be wet, and that's good. Just like traditional stovetop oats, baked oats need lots of moisture as they cook.
- Coll the oats before slicing so they can fully set and hold their shape when you cut them into squares.
- Rolled oats are best for this recipe. Quick oats don't have a hearty enough texture, and steel cuts won't bind as well.
