Honey Buffalo Wings Recipe
Ingredients
For the Wings
- Chicken Wings: I prefer Springer Mountain Farms wings for their quality, taste, and commitment to no antibiotics, all-vegetarian diet, and no added hormones or steroids ever.
- Seasonings: A combination of paprika, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper gives the wings a bold flavor, even before adding the honey Buffalo sauce.
For the Honey Buffalo Sauce
- Frank's Buffalo Sauce: Frank's Buffalo sauce creates the zesty, hot base for the honey Buffalo sauce.
- Butter: Butter adds richness and a velvety texture to the sauce.
- Honey: Honey adds sweetness to balance out the heat of the Buffalo sauce.
See the recipe card at the end of the post for a full list of ingredients and their exact amounts.
Flavor Variations
- Buffalo Sauce: I love Frank's because it's certified gluten-free, but if you have no gluten issues, use your favorite brand.
- Other Chicken Cuts: Use the sauce in this recipe to make chicken dinners with thighs or breasts.
- Dairy-Free: Use plant butter to make a gluten and dairy-free version.
How to Make Buffalo Honey Wings
1: Preheat the oven to 420 degrees. Then, line a large baking sheet with foil and place a baking rack on top of it.
2: Wash and pat the wings dry, then cut the wing and drumette portions apart with a sharp kitchen knife. Combine the wings and wing seasonings in a large bowl and give them a good mix to ensure the wings are evenly coated.
3: Place the wings onto the rack, being sure to leave space between them so every side gets crispy. Then, bake them for 20 to 25 minutes until their internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
For the Sauce
1: While the wings are cooking, combine the honey, buffalo sauce, butter, and salt in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer.
2: Combine the cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then pour the slurry into the sauce. Continue simmering, stirring occasionally, for 4 to 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
3: Serve the wings with the sauce on the side for dipping, or dip 2 wings at a time into the sauce to coat them. Repeat until all the wings are coated. Place the wings back on the rack and let the glaze set for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with fresh parsley, and enjoy!
Hint
Be sure you leave a little space between the wings. Otherwise, they won't get crispy on the sides.
Storage
Refrigerate these wings in an air-tight container for up to 3 days.
To reheat the wings, bake them at 350 on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper until hot.
What to Serve with Honey Buffalo Chicken Wings
Serve these wings with your favorite dipping sauce. Bleu cheese, of course, is the classic choice!
You can also pair these wings with your other favorite appetizers like avocado lime crema with chips, smoked mac and cheese, or fire roasted salsa with chips.
Tips for the Best Buffalo Honey Glazed Chicken Wings
- It's important to rinse and pat the chicken wings dry so the seasonings will stick to them readily.
- Be sure to leave a little space between the wings while you bake them so the skin gets crispy on all sides.
- If you use the sauce as a glaze, give the wings a gentle shake after dipping them to ensure the perfect glaze.
- Hold the chicken as close to the bottom of your sink as possible to limit cross-contamination from spattering water.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, it is. That's why it's the only one I use. It's gluten-free and certified dairy-free, vegetarian, and kosher.
Buffalo sauce can be gluten-free, but not all Buffalo sauce is gluten-free. Buffalo sauces with ingredients like malt vinegar or soy sauce have hidden gluten, so it's important to look for brands that specify that they are gluten-free.
Baking wings on a baking rack allows the hot air to reach all sides of the wings, making every part of them crispy.
