    Chicken fajitas wraps are easy, healthy, and delicious. Tender white meat chicken, sweet pepper, bell peppers, onions, and taco seasoning come together in the air fryer to create a delicious Tex-Mex feast that's ready in just 15 minutes!

    I love all things Mexican or Mexican-inspired, especially dinner ideas. Creating them in the air fryer has become my go-to for a quick weeknight meal, like these air fryer pork chops. Making these chicken and green bell pepper fajita tacos is easy, healthy, and delicious!

    They're packed with protein, veggies, zesty seasonings, and chili oil, and you can make them even healthier by adding more veggies and omitting the tortillas. That being said, if you're not worried about calories, serve these chicken wraps with your favorite cheese and sour cream for the ultimate chicken fajita experience!

    If calories aren't a concern, pair these chicken fajita wraps with sides like fire roasted salsa and tortilla chips, Mexican or Spanish rice, and this delicious cinnamon roll bundt cake. It's not a churro, but it gives you the same sweet, cinnamon flavor.

    I used Springer Mountain Farms boneless skinless chicken breasts for this recipe. I love them because they never add antibiotics or hormones, never feed their chickens animal by-products, and are certified humane.

    Variations

    • Chicken Breasts: Use boneless skinless chicken thighs, flank steak, thinly sliced pork, or shrimp to change things up. You can also use these grilled chicken tenderloins for a grilled version.
    • Add Veggies: Add mushrooms if you're serving these as fajitas. You can also serve them without the tortillas, using any of your favorite sliced or diced vegetables for added flavor and texture.
    • Spicy: Try adding sliced jalapenos or red chilis for more flavor and heat.
    • Seasonings: Keep things simple and use packaged fajita seasoning for a shortcut.
    • Cheese: Try adding cheddar, Mexican blend, taco blend, or Monterey Jack cheese for more flavor.

    How to Make Chicken Fajitas Wraps

    Toss the chicken strips with olive oil, chili olive oil, and lime juice in a medium bowl. Then, add the seasonings and toss again.

    Add the bell peppers and onions and toss once more until everything is evenly coated.

    Air fry the chicken and veggies at 390°F for about 7 minutes. Then, give them a good toss and air fry for another few minutes until the chicken's internal temperature registers 165°F.

    Heat a corn tortilla in a skillet over medium heat until warm and pliable. Then, fill with the fajita mixture, flip, and cook until the wrap is golden and remains closed.

    Expert Tips

    • Be sure to preheat your air fryer before cooking the fajita filling. It's an absolute myth that air fryers don't have to be preheated!
    • If you have a small air fryer, cook the fajita filling in batches.
    • Be sure your filling is in an even layer in the air fryer basket, or the ingredients won't cook evenly.
    • Keep the heat at medium when heating the tortillas and the filling. You don't want to burn them.
    • Eliminate stinging eyes by refrigerating your onions for about 30 minutes before slicing them.

    Are chicken fajitas wraps healthy?

    Do you have to preheat an air fryer?

    Preheating the air fryer does help, but to be honest, I do not always preheat the air fryer, and the food will cook up just fine!

    What are the best tortillas to use for wraps?

    Any tortilla will work. If you are gluten free like me, I recommend corn tortillas, although if gluten is not an issue, flour tortillas work great. You can also find healthier versions, like low-carb or vegetable tortillas.

    Ingredients
      

    • 3 Springer Mountain Farms chicken breasts
    • 3 mini sweet peppers sliced thin
    • 1 green bell peppers sliced thin
    • 1 onion sliced thin
    • 1 tablespoon Costabile Brand chili olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon Costabile Brand olive oil
    • 2 ½ tablespoon Hooks Rub Tacos Everyday seasoning
    • 1 tsp lime juice

    Instructions
     

    • First, wash the chicken, pat it dry, and cut it into thin strips.
    • Then, add the chicken to a medium-sized bowl and coat it with olive oil and lime juice. Then, add the seasonings and toss to coat.
    • Next, add the vegetables and toss until everything is evenly coated.
    • Air fry the fajita mixture at 390 degrees for 7 minutes. Then, toss the mixture and continue air fryer for another 2 to 3 minutes. The chicken should be at an internal temperature of 165 degrees when done.
    • Place a tortilla in a skillet over medium heat and cook for 20 seconds. Then, fill the tortilla with the fajita mixture and your choice of cheese, fold the tortilla over, flip it, and continue cooking on the other side until the wrap stays closed.

    Storage
    • Refrigerate the fajita filling for up to 3 days in an airtight container. 
    • Freeze the filling for up to 3 months in an airtight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag. 
    • Defrost overnight in the refrigerator before reheating. 
    • Microwave at 1-minute intervals until heated through. 
    • Store the filling separately from the tortillas to prevent sogginess. 
    Tips
    • Preheat your air fryer for even cooking and accurate cooking times. It only takes about 5 minutes. 
    • Brush your air fryer basket with oil rather than using nonstick spray. The spray can damage the nonstick coating over time. 
    • Your ingredients should be in a single layer in the air fryer basket for even cooking. 
    • If you have a small air fryer, cook the fajita filling in batches.
    • Keep the heat at medium when heating the tortillas and the filling. You don't want to burn them.
    • Eliminate stinging eyes by refrigerating your onions for about 30 minutes before slicing them.
