This strawberry mango protein smoothie makes for a perfect quick and healthy drink that will boost your energy and keep your hunger at bay, until your next meal. Smoothies are so versatile and full of nutrients which makes them a great option for breakfast or snack. They're especially good as pre-or post-workout beverage. For an extra satisfying smoothie try it with my favorite toppings, healthy granola, and coconut cream!
Pro tip: If you have fruit that is ripe, or just about overripe don't throw it away; that is smoothie gold! You can certainly freeze that fruit and use it at a later time.
First, spread out the fruit in a single layer on a baking sheet, then freeze the fruit on the tray for 2 hours. Lastly, transfer the frozen fruit to a freezer-safe bag and then immediately place it back in the freezer.
The method above is a great shortcut for a future blended beverage. Pre-freezing the fruit on a baking sheet will ensure that it doesn't stick together when frozen.
Additionally, you can buy larger quantities of seasonal fruit (because prices are generally lowest when the fruit is in season) and follow the same freezing process.

- Lastly, if smoothie is too thick, add more non-dairy milk in 1 tablespoon increments.
Substitutions
The frozen fruit (e.g., mango, strawberry, banana) can be substituted, equally, for any frozen fruit of your choice. Any non-dairy or dairy milk can be used interchangeably in this versatile recipe.
Additionally, try adding a handful of fresh spinach, kale, or other greens to the smoothie.
Keep in mind that if you add any additional ingredients, that the smoothie will have a more liquid like texture.
Smoothie substitution and superfood "add in" ingredients:
Swap these frozen fruits, or your favorite fruit for any of the fruit in the recipe in equal amounts
- blueberries
- raspberries
- cherries
- pineapple
- peaches
Add 1 tablespoon of one or two superfoods from this list for a nutrient boost*
*Do not add more than two ingredients from this list, as it will change the texture and taste of the smoothie too much.
Equipment
It's best to use a blender or food processor to make this smoothie. However, if you have an immersion blender (hand or stick blender), it will work just as well.
Storage
The smoothie is best when consumed immediately after blending. However, you can pour any leftover smoothie, into ice cube trays and freeze.
These "smoothie cubes" can be added to any smoothie, or placed all of them in the blender with a splash of non-dairy milk, and blend for a quick smoothie.
Refresh and revive with these delicious drinks!

Just put all my ingredients together on this. This was super refreshing and I froze some extras to have in the morning. I also like that it's versatile and you can add different types of fruit. It gets 2 thumbs up. Now I'm craving one. Yummy.
