I have lots of rich pasta dishes and desserts on my site, but believe it or not, I'm also a big fan of healthy eating. It's all about moderation, and one way I ensure I moderate is by making healthy snacks. I enjoy making tasty snack recipes like kimchi summer rolls, cashew protein balls, and now, this crispy edamame.

    Ingredients

    • Edamame: Shelled edamame gets crispy and crunchy in the air fryer.
    • Chili Oil: Chili oil gives the edamame the oil they need to crisp up and adds a kick of heat.
    • Coconut Aminos: Nutiva Coconut Secret Coconut Aminos gives the edamame a rich, bold flavor reminiscent of soy sauce but sweeter and without gluten.

See the recipe card at the end of the post for a full list of ingredients and their exact amounts.

    Flavor Variations

    • Mild: Use regular olive oil in place of chili oil for a mild version.
    • Extra Spicy: Add cayenne or red pepper flakes to the mix for more heat.
    • Oil: Experiment with different oils, like garlic olive oil, to change up the flavor of the edamame.
    • Edamame: Try this seasoning blend with snow peas to make air fryer snow peas.

    Instructions

1: Thaw and shell the edamame. Then, mix it with all the ingredients in a large bowl until well coated.

    Hint

For even cooking and precise cooking time, preheat your air fryer. It only take about 3 minutes!

    Storage

Refrigerate this edamame for up to 2 days in an air-tight container. For longer storage, freeze the edamame for up to a year in an air-tight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag.

To freeze the edamame, place it in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. When frozen, transfer the edamame to a container or freezer bag.

Bring the edamame to room temperature before serving.

    Pairing Suggestions

This delicious air-fried edamame is a great snack all by itself, but you can also make it part of a larger meal by pairing it with other delicious Asian flavors. Try it with shrimp and chicken fried rice, orange chicken, or a teriyaki turkey rice bowl.

    Expert Tips

    • Preheat your air fryer for even cooking and precise time. It only takes about 3 minutes!
    • Give the air fryer basket a good shake about halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.
    • Always wash your hands and never touch your face when working with hot peppers or oil that contains peppers.
    • Check your edamame for doneness after about 9 minutes, as air fryer cooking times vary depending on the size and model.

This was really yummy! A great snack, but I also put it on salads a few days for lunches and it was great to have as a meal prep ingredient to use all week long. Definitely making again!
