Ingredients
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs: Chicken thighs have a richer flavor than breasts and retain more moisture. I prefer Springer Mountain Farms chicken thighs for their high quality, freshness, and commitment to no antibiotics or other additives ever.
- Jerk Seasoning: Pre-made jerk seasoning makes it quick and easy to give the chicken all its bold flavor.
- Garlic Olive Oil: Costabile garlic olive oil is the base for the wet rub and adds even more flavor. I prefer Costabile olive oil for its quality and purity. Use Code: 15GOLDENGK for 15% off.
See the recipe card at the end of the post for a full list of ingredients and their exact amounts.
Flavor Variations
- Use different proteins: You can make this recipe with chicken breasts, pork chops, or your favorite fish or shellfish. Just be sure to adjust your cooking time accordingly.
- Make a low-sodium version: Omit the salt for a low sodium version of this recipe.
- A fruity flavor: Add a little fruit juice like mango or pineapple to the rub liquid for a tropical, fruity twist.
How to Make Air Fryer Jerk Chicken Thighs
1: Wash the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels.
2: Mix the remaining ingredients to make a paste and coat both sides of the chicken thighs with the marinade.
3: Air fry until the internal temperature registers 165 degrees with a meat thermometer. Enjoy!
Hint
For maximum flavor, let the thighs marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Storage
Refrigerate this jerk chicken for up to 3 days in an air-tight container. For longer storage, freeze it for up to 3 months in an air-tight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag with as much air removed as possible. Defrost in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
To reheat the chicken, place it in a baking dish and cook at 350 degrees until heated through.
What to Serve with Jamaican Jerk Chicken
Serve this spicy, smoky, sweet chicken over a bed of rice or pasta. You can also pair it with simple vegetable sides like air fryer zucchini and squash, light, flavorful tomato, shrimp, and cucumber salad, or even a simple asparagus recipe.
For dessert, keep the tropical theme going with coconut cream pie, or opt for the cold, refreshing sweetness of homemade peach ice cream.

Many people say you don't, however, preheating an air fryer can help make your food cook more evenly and keep cooking times as accurate as possible. It only takes a few minutes, so there's no reason no to.
Jamaican jerk is traditionally quite hot. Scotch bonnet peppers measure from 100,000 to 300,000 on the Scoville Heat Unit scale. For comparison, jalapenos only register between 2,500 and 8,000.
